I am a minor fan of MOApps software (MyTaskNotes, MyTumblr, etc). I like the simple sophistication of the user interface (e.g: Michael has eschewed the latest craze of filling your screen up with HUDs) and the fairly well thought out mix of features (what to include, and equally importantly, what to leave out). On these counts myWPEdit is a winner. The user interface is clean, the integration with WordPress is deep, there is support for Markdown, and all that at 25% the cost of the leading Mac blog editor (MarsEdit) should leave me happy. If not for the surprising and debilitating weaknesses: the editor behaviour turns bizarre at times - typed text fails to appear, but upon closing and reopening the editor suddenly appears; typed text appears in unexpected points rather than at the cursor; the documentation is weak or non-existent (clicking on Help -> Manual leads to a 404 web page); the font size of the editor is tiny and unconfigurable (unless you count a zoom/magnification setting); there is a timezone setting whose purpose is unclear and setting which requires counting markers! (if you are in IST, you can forget setting it altogether, there seems to be no support for 1/2 hour timezones); the Markdown preview does not live update, and there is no update button in the preview window, so you will actually need to close and reopen the preview window each time you make changes you wish to preview; there seems to be an arbitrary right margin at which text wraps, which means that depending on the zoom setting, you could have a lot of empty space on the right, or text cut off from view unless you resize the window. I would have preferred discussing all this with the developer directly, but an attempt to do so on email/Twitter drew a testy response from him suggesting that the product works fine for all other users. If you are one of those users or likely to be one (i.e., you do not find the sort of erratic behaviour in the editor that I did, and you do not find the Markdown preview and other limitations a problem), then you should read this review positively: this is still a very clean and affordable product. If on the other hand, you might be hobbled by these limitations, you may wish to wait for an update that addresses some or all of them.
